“Opportunity to rebuild their lives with a new start in a safe environment while they learn how to re-engage into society”

This is what most parents want to hear. Giving them the 2nd chance to change. Recovery from addiction could be guided and let them be enlightened to eliminate addiction. The help that us parents want, a life that our child will slowly eliminate addiction and vision life with more meaning towards them.

Research has shown that most, if not all of the problems faced in marriage (and other relationships) stem from dysfunction and abuse that occurred before the age of nine. Families are where we learn how to form our worldviews and adaptations for how we function in relationships. God alone can transform and re-frame our history to turn it into “His story.” Redemption is from Him alone!! Praise His name! He gives it freely, lovingly and fully!

Sometimes a rehab center is also necessary. My mother for many years struggled with alcoholism and her story of success included many failed attempts. The only thing that finally got her attention was almost losing her life in an alcohol infused mishap. She was able to find her way with the support of our family and the help of the staff at our local rehab center Ambrosia Treatment Center here in Port St. Lucie Fl. They were of immeasurable help to my family in addition to faith. Keep up the great work of educating people on the benefits of abandoning addiction.

Thanks Justin for your comment. I also agree that overcoming addiction is not something we can do on our own, but it’s also extremely important to understand that it’s not just about getting sober either. We began drinking and drugging as a way of coping with a much deeper issue and that issue will still be present after we are sober. We need to be restored at the Spiritual Level and only God can do that.

I agree that you can’t always kick an addiction on your own. My mother couldn’t do it alone, and she couldn’t even do it with our family’s help. Not until we got here into C.A.R.E. Florida (http://www.careflorida.com) addiction treatment center was she able to finally achieve sobriety.

Thanks Nicole for the additional resource on drug addiction and its many treatment options! While it is true that treatment is the 1st step towards recovery, the addict must have a comprehensive after-care program committed to offer every man ready to "get on with the rest his life" the training, tools, skills and support necessary to live whole and free and strong.
